I’m an experienced educator with a lifelong passion for helping children grow in confidence and ability, especially in reading, writing, and mathematics. I began my journey in the United States, earning a degree in Sociology. After college, I worked with homeless families, teaching essential life skills—an experience that deepened my commitment to education.
To follow that passion, I earned a Master of Education and Elementary Teaching Certification. During my 11 years teaching overseas, I completed additional certifications in Gifted Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) and earned an Education Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning.
After marrying an Australian, my teaching journey continued in Darwin, Australia. While living there, I worked with diverse groups of students, including Indigenous Australians and asylum seekers. In New South Wales and Queensland, I taught in a government special needs school and several independent schools. These roles deepened my skills in inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, learning support, and special education.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including numerous students with learning disabilities, intellectual impairments, processing disorders, autism, ADHD, and other unique needs. When I noticed increasing percentages of students with unique learning challenges and disabilities in my classroom year after year, I sought specialised training in Australia and overseas to expand my expertise in multi-sensory teaching methods—evidence-based approaches that support students with their reading, writing, and math skills by engaging multiple senses. This approach has become a cornerstone of my tutoring and teaching practice.
When not working, I love reading, learning Spanish, travelling, and exploring different cultures and histories. I also enjoy outdoor activities, biking, swimming, running, and competing in triathlons and open-water races. Above all, I treasure time with my husband and our two daughters.
