For students with dyslexia, reading can often feel like a constant struggle. The Orton-Gillingham approach is a structured, multisensory, language-based method that targets the root causes of reading difficulties. As an instructor, I use this gold-standard method to guide students step-by-step through the process of mastering reading and spelling, focusing on phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
Both primary and high school students begin with a phonics-based lesson format then older learners can progress to a morphology focus to deepen language understanding and enhance reading and writing skills.
Multi-Sensory Maths
Mathematics is challenging for many students. I understand how children learn, and have focused my professional development on supporting students using multi-sensory methods. Even students with dyscalculia can develop their understanding of mathematical concepts.
I begin by assessing students to identify any gaps in their mathematical understandings. Next, I tailor lessons to your child's learning style using hands-on, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques to help students grasp complex math concepts and foster a love for learning. My specialised training allows me to incorporate strategies for comprehending mathematical operations, focus on conceptual understanding, and strengthen problem-solving skills, not memorisation.
Writing Process
As a passionate and dedicated educator, I specialise in helping students enhance their writing skills. With years of experience, I employ tailored strategies that build students’ confidence and clarity in their writing.
Students learn effective planning strategies using graphic organisers and how to apply practical tips for drafting, revising, and editing. Through constructive feedback, timed writing exercises, and exploration of various writing styles, I empower students to articulate their thoughts effectively.
Together, we turn test anxiety into test triumph by making the writing process approachable, engaging, and enjoyable.
